Edo State Commissioner for Basic Education, Mr. Patrick Aguinede, Thursday confirmed the sack of 836 teachers by the state government.
The sad news came after speculations that the State Government had planned to sack about 3,000 workers in its teaching service.
Confirming the figure, Aguinede said the sack was sequel to the recommendation of a verification panel set up by the state government.
He said the verification was not meant to witch-hunt anyone, but to ascertain the number of those fit enough to be in service.
