Sanusi’s Letter: There is a Hidden Agenda which Nigerians should know – Dogo

A political scientist, Isuwa Dogo, has questioned the rational behind the letter of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Lamido Sanusi, to the Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has failed to remit $49.8 billion into the Federation Account.
Dr Dogo said that the letter was not necessary, as the CBN governor had unlimited access to the NNPC’s management.
“The letter was a deliberate attempt to ridicule the NNPC when there is no reason for that,” he said.
Speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Dr. Dogo wondered why people are adopting the use of letter in tackling issues that dialogue would have resolved.
Hidden Agenda
“If a letter is written and everything there seems to be absolutely out of the reality, then there is a hidden agenda which Nigerians should find out”.
Mr. Dogo disagreed  with the CBN’s reason for writing the letter and questioned why the apex bank waited for ’18 months of non-remittance’ before writing to President Jonathan.
“If that is the case, the CBN is only indicting themselves which has shown that they are inefficient and ineffective by waiting for 18 months before bringing up an issue as important as this,” he pointed out.
He also stated that there was no place it was mentioned in the letter that the CBN had contacted the NNPC in respect to the un-remitted funds without getting any response
