A 14-year-old boy identified as Julius has been arrested by the police for allegedly conniving with his gang to kidnap his 62-year-old grandmother.
The suspect who lives in Oleh in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State conspired with some hoodlums to kidnap his grandmother last year, demanding N4million naira ransom which the distraught relatives of the woman paid to secure her release and he was rewarded N150,000 by the gang for his co-operation.
Nemesis however caught up with him as he conspired to kidnap a 4-year-old child on January 17, 2014 but was caught. Julius had organised the kidnap of the child with other two victims who were released last Saturday.
Confirming the incident, Acting spokesman of the state police command, DSP Charles Muka, said the suspect is in police custody and would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
He said, “Through information, the roles of the suspect were revealed. On interrogation, he confessed receiving N150,000.00 for the role he played when the grandmother was kidnapped and N4 million ransom paid," adding that all kidnap cases have insider roles.
He therefore called on parents and guardians to be careful with those they share their personal information with.
